This is part of a writing challenge. Read more about it here.
Today, I want to do something a little different than the kind of posts I’ve been doing for this challenge. Something I’ve always wanted to try is a laid back stream of consciousness esque piece where I essentially just write whatever comes to my mind without being concerned of whether or not it makes sense, or if I’m making a point.
That’s why I picked the word stream, you know, because stream of consciousness. Dang, that’s a hard word to spell. Thank goodness for auto-correct. Honestly, I make so many spelling errors daily. Not because I don’t know how to spell a word, but just because I can afford to make those mistakes because auto correct will fix it, or at the very least, my device will point my error out to me.
Isn’t that a weird concept? Doing something that isn’t right just because you can and because there are no consequences otherwise? It’s kind of how we treat some people in our lives too. It’s so common to treat people horribly, or simply ignore their existence until its beneficial to us when we know that they aren’t going anywhere. Being completely honest, I’ve been on both sides of this, but I can’t think of an example off the top of my head that I would be comfortable sharing here. (or at least one that I think other people would be comfortable with me sharing). So, I’ll move on from that topic, but it’s definitely something to be aware of: Is there anything in your life that is perhaps not right or a “good thing”, but you’re doing it anyway just because you can afford to? Maybe because someone or something else will clean your mess up for you?
Speaking of cleaning up messes, I’ve recently been finding that I really enjoy cleaning and organizing. Which is weird, because anyone who knows me, is probably aware that I’m generally a pretty messy person. I’m genuinely all over the place and my things are too. But this past weekend, I reorganized my wardrobe, color co-ordinated everything and I even liked doing it! It’s definitely been an interesting change in my life.
I’m starting to feel a little bit like Monica, but I have a few different messy closets that could probably use some work. Eh, I’ll get there. One weekend at a time. I’ve also been “watching” a lot of F.R.I.E.N.D.S lately. I say “watching” because it’s more listening than watching. I like to play it in the background while I work on other things. I find that this is one of those shows that I have periods in my life where I really enjoy it. So every few months or so I’ll start watching the show again, and then move on to something else, and then come back in a few months to re-watch it.
Oh, question. Are you the kind of person who can re-watch movies and shows? Because though I love/at least don’t mind re-watching them, I definitely know people that can’t stand it. There have been times when I watch a movie, and then the next day I’m hanging out with a friend and they say they want to watch it too. It gets a little frustrating when I have to/end up watching the same thing multiple times (like more than two) within a short period of time. However, given an ample amount of time between the viewings, I find that I can appreciate the movie or show once again.
I’ve been running a little lower than I’d like on sleep for the past few days, so I’ve been pretty exhausted. So, I think I’m going to head to bed now. But, I really enjoyed this super informal style of writing, and I think its something I might do a little more often. You know, this reminds me, when I’m having a conversation, I do bounce and flit from topic to topic pretty frequently, so I do appreciate the fact that this style of writing in some sense emulates that!
Anyway, because I have been talking to you this whole time, it only seems fitting that I say goodbye as well. I hope you have/ are having/have had a great day, and that regardless of how much sleep you’re getting, I hope you get some more! Okay, Bye!
