For me, poetry isn’t simply expression, but rather the method in which to collect myself and piece me back together; my poetry is an amalgamation of who I’ve been, who I am and who I might become.

Quantity over Quality: A Writing Challenge

June 1st, 2019

Over the past year and a half that I’ve been blogging, I’ve really struggled with producing content. I’ve especially been extremely critical of myself and trashed ideas even before I’ve fleshed them out. I really want to write more, and experiment with less serious pieces. For instance, I’ve always wanted to try a stream of consciousness piece, or tell random little stories that don’t really have a takeaway. So in order to accomplish those goals, and to really just take myself less seriously, I have created this writing challenge for this summer.

Here are the guidelines I will be following:

  1. I will post at least one post a day.
  2. I will have exactly 45 minutes to brainstorm, write and edit the piece.
  3. At 45 minutes, I will publish it regardless of the grammatical errors, or whether or not I’m mid-sentence.

Those are pretty much the only guidelines. Other than that, I just plan to write and have fun! Oh, also, along with the posts for this challenge, I will also be posting other more polished pieces that I have planned for this summer! Overall these upcoming months will be full of writing, stories, and hopefully a lot of fun.

If you have any ideas of topics you’d like me to write about, feel free to send me your suggestions!
